Again, Papuan Traditional Leaders Urge Governor Lukas Enembe To Be Disabled

JAKARTA - The wheels of government in Papua regarding public services are not optimal. The reason is that Lukas Enembe as the number 1 person in Papua is entangled in a case of alleged corruption with the status of a suspect. Not to mention the governor was declared sick.

A youth leader from the Tabi customary area in Papua, Martinus Kasuay, asked the government to take immediate action to resolve problems related to services. He asked the government to appoint an acting (Pj) governor to manage the government in Papua.

"For government affairs, the central government will immediately appoint a temporary official to take care of the people in Papua," he said in a written statement, as reported by Antara, Sunday, October 23.

Martinus said that strategic steps related to the administration of government in Papua in the midst of legal and health problems that are being afflicted by Lukas Enembe must be carried out immediately. In addition, the Provincial Government of Papua is currently experiencing a vacancy in the position of deputy governor.

According to him, in recent weeks, Papuan provincial government officials and political elites in Papua have been busy taking care of Lukas Enembe's health. As a result of focusing on someone, the public interest in Papua has been neglected. "If the governor is sick now, let the doctors and nurses take care of him," he said.

Martinus emphasized how the fate of Papuan public services would be if all regional officials only took care of one person, namely Lukas Enembe.

"There is only one governor, someone has taken care of it. There are many people. This community needs to be taken care of, not left alone or all people want to be left sick," he said.

He hopes that the Acting Governor in Papua can maximize the wheels of government and service to the community.

Martinus also criticized Lukas Enembe's new status as the Chief of the Papuan Tribe as confirmed by Dominikus Sorabut's version of the Papuan Customary Council. "The confirmation is not valid," added Martinus.

He explained that in Papua there are seven customary areas with different leadership structures within the tribe. In the traditional version of Tabi, tribal chiefs are appointed based on lineage. Unlike in the traditional areas of Lapago and Meepago, who is strong in war, he is the chief of the tribe.

Martinus even opposed the supporters of Lukas Enembe who tried to use Papuan customs and culture as a shield to protect Lukas from legal proceedings by the KPK.
