KPK's Efforts To "Pick Up Ball" To Papua To Facilitate Lukas Enembe's Summoning Is Failed, Ali Fikri: Still Absent

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said its investigators had taken the ball to the Mobile Brigade Headquarters in Kotaraja, Jayapura, to facilitate the investigation of Papua Governor Lukas Enembe on Monday, September 12. However, the person concerned still did not attend due to illness.

The Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, confirmed that the presence of investigators in Papua for the examination of Luke had gone through the applicable legal mechanism. The presence of KPK investigators is also to facilitate the examination.

"The examination in Papua is intended to make it easier for the person concerned to fulfill this summons. However, the person concerned was not present to fulfill the summons with his legal representative represented," Ali said in a written statement to reporters, Tuesday, September 20.

Ali asked Lukas to cooperate with the next investigator's summons. The incumbent governor's statement is needed to make light of the ongoing corruption allegations.

Not only that, with Luke's presence, it is hoped that the investigation of the case will be more efficient. Legal certainty can also be obtained by parties involved in the alleged corruption.

"KPK hopes that in the future the parties will be cooperative in the law enforcement process, namely by fulfilling the summons for the examination process," he said.

"So that the case handling process can run well, effectively, efficiently, and immediately provide legal certainty for the parties concerned," continued Ali.

The KPK asked Luke not to worry. As a suspect, he will certainly get his rights in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

"The parties are of course also given rights according to the constitution to obtain legal defense in the examination and judicial process," said Ali.

As previously reported, Lukas Enembe has been named a suspect in alleged corruption from public complaints. The details of the case against him have not been disclosed but he has been prevented from going abroad for six months.

Later, the announcement of the suspect and the construction of the alleged corruption will only be delivered during the detention process. This step was taken after the leadership of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri.
