Boosting The Agricultural Sector, Embungs And Dams To Be Built In Central Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara In 2023

SUMBA - The government will build a large dam and dam in 2023 to support the development of the agricultural sector around the barn area in Central Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.

"We are very grateful to the government because in 2023 we will receive assistance in the construction of dams and reservoirs to support the development of the agricultural sector in Central Sumba Regency," said Central Sumba Regent Paulus K Limu when contacted from Kupang, Antara, Monday, March 21.

He explained that the pond to be built by the central government was built in the Kabilimau agricultural area which has an agricultural land of 20 hectares. The development of agricultural infrastructure is a government effort in accelerating the development of the agricultural sector.

He explained that with the construction of dams and dams, the acceleration of the development of the agricultural sector in the region was quickly realized.

"We are currently boosting the development of the agricultural sector by cooperating with Bappenas in structuring potential agricultural areas to support the economic development of the people of Central Sumba," said Paulus.

He also added that his party was designing for the expansion of the food estate area, which currently has 10.000 hectares and will be developed to 20.000 hectares

"The arrangement of the food estate agricultural area in Central Sumba Regency is carried out until 2024 and has received the support of the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture," he said.

He explained that the community's support for the presence of a food estate is very large, with more and more vacant land being used as agricultural land to plant corn and various secondary crops.
