JAKARTA - Google blocked Russia's state-owned media, RT, so it could not get revenue from advertising.
Quoted by Reuters from Antara, Sunday, February 27, this ban applies to Google products, such as YouTube.
YouTube uses the reason "extraordinary events" so that there are a number of accounts that can not be monetized from the platform. Other Russian media that have been sanctioned, including from the European Union, are also unable to monetize their content.
Google also prohibits these media from using their technology to make money from sites and apps. Russian media cannot buy ads through Google Tools and place ads on Google services, including Search and Gmail.
"We are actively monitoring the latest developments and will take other steps if necessary," said Google spokesman Michael Aciman.
