When DPRD Inspects Transjakarta Officials Because Bus Often Accidents

JAKARTA - Transjakarta bus accidents that occur repeatedly have made the DKI DPRD inflamed. Yesterday, Commission B of the DKI DPRD summoned a high-ranking BUMD PT Transjakarta to ask for an explanation regarding the matter.

When the new meeting was opened, Member of Commission B of the DKI DPRD from the Gerindra faction, Adi Kurnia Setiadi, immediately attacked the Managing Director of Transjakarta, Mochammad Yana Aditya. Adi questioned Yana's professional background before being appointed as President Director.

Because, previously, Yana had served as President Director of the State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) PT Perikanan Nusantara (Persero). Adi even quipped Yana as a "fisher" who doesn't understand transportation problems.

"I don't want to be a fishmonger talking about transportation, what do I want to discuss. I want to know first that this explains who is the basis for people who are not experts. The leadership wants me to sit here to be replaced by my staff? People who are not elected by the people, please understand," said Adi, Monday, November 6th.

Therefore, Adi asked the Head of the Regional Owned Enterprises Development Agency (BP BUMD) Riyadi to explain the profiles of all Transjakarta directors.

Next, the members of the council started "washing" Transjakarta officials. As a result of the multiple accidents experienced by Transjakarta buses, Member of Commission B of the DKI DPRD Ichwanul Muslimin admitted that he would definitely resign if he became a director of Transjakarta.

"As for the directors of Transjakarta, I'll just be outspoken, if I were in your father's position now, I would voluntarily resign," said Ichwanul.

Ichwanul stated that Transjakarta's board of directors must be evaluated. This is because the Transjakarta accident has not only happened in the last two months. It is recorded that from September to the end of December 2021, there have been 248 Transjakarta bus accidents.

Meanwhile, Member of Commission B of the DKI DPRD, Wahyu Dewanto, challenged Transjakarta Director Yana to make an integrity pact stating that he is ready to resign if the Transjakarta accident happens again.

"We challenge you, asking you to make an integrity pact, in front of us all, if something goes wrong again, you are ready to step down. If you are brave, please, this gives us a little confidence that the safety of public transportation should not be played with," explained Wahyu.

Continuing, Member of Commission B DPRD DKI Gilbert Simanjuntak suspected that there was an inappropriate recruitment process within the board of directors of PT Transjakarta BUMD, thus making Transjakarta management bad and causing frequent bus accidents.

This member of the PDIP faction of the DPRD DKI questioned the background of the appointment of Achmad Izzul Waro as Director of Services and Development of PT Transjakarta. He said Izzul had never managed transportation, but had been a member of the Governor's Team for the Acceleration of Development (TGUPP) DKI.

"Director of service, you don't have a track record in the transportation sector, you never manage a bajaj. Your track record is TGUPP before. It's going to be bad," said Gilbert.

Gilbert revealed the reason he attacked Izzul Waro. He suspects that the fit and proper test process for candidates for high-ranking Transjakarta officials is carried out with intervention from other parties. So, this is what makes Transjakarta often have accidents.

"We say the track record is not fair to enter the service directorate. So what do we get? Yes, this (often accidents)," said Gilbert.

Until finally, Chairman of Commission B DPRD DKI Abdul Aziz closed the meeting with the board of directors of PT Transjakarta BUMD with a number of recommendations. Aziz said that one of the recommendations given was the obligation for Transjakarta to reform the organizational structure (reorganization) in its environment.

Aziz emphasized that Transjakarta must establish a special area for handling safety aspects in Transjakarta operations. This field is responsible for the potential for bus accidents.

"The first is that there must be a reorganization of the structure and there must be a person in charge of the safety sector," said Aziz.

The next recommendation is that the DPRD asks Transjakarta to provide the results of a comprehensive audit recommendation from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).

Then, the DPRD urged Transjakarta to take firm action against bus operators who are partners with Transjakarta who do not comply with the minimum operating service standards, from the condition of the bus to the driver.

"Review of operators who do not meet the SPM (minimum service standards). Do not hesitate if there are operators who do not meet this SPM to be dealt with," said Aziz.

As is known, Transjakarta buses have had accidents at least six times in the last two months. The accident occurred on October 25, 2021, in Cawang, East Jakarta, which left two people dead, namely the driver and passenger of the Transjakarta bus. Meanwhile, 31 passengers were injured.

Apart from Cawang, there was also a single accident in Senen, Central Jakarta. Then, another accident occurred on October 29, 2021, in Gandaria City, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta.

Then, on Thursday, December 2, in front of the Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC). Then, the next day, there was a single TransJakarta bus accident in front of Ratu Plaza, Sudirman Street Jakarta.

Then on Monday, December 6, a Transjakarta bus route Puribeta - Blok M was involved in a single accident crashing into an empty land next to the Puri Beta 2 bus stop, Larangan, Tangerang City.
