JAKARTA - Perumda PAM Jaya has started installing cybel meters or smart meters in piped clean water services in Jakarta. The use of this smart meter is supported by the DKI Jakarta DPRD.
According to Member of Commission C of the DKI DPRD August Hamonangan, the use of smart meters can increase the accuracy of water pressure. However, it is necessary to expand socialization to the public about this.
"If the installation of a cybel meter is in accordance with what has been conveyed by PAM Jaya to Commission C, we are very supportive. However, before that there must be socialization to the public so that residents know the benefits," August told reporters, Friday, January 3.
August emphasized the importance of massive socialization to residents prior to the implementation of this program. According to him, good communication will ensure that the public understands the benefits of this technology and supports efforts to improve services carried out by PAM Jaya.
"Do not let the lack of socialization actually make this good step considered negative or even considered less impactful," he said.
In its use, the customer's water meter is equipped with a communication module without cables that is able to read water consumption automatically and in real-time without additional costs for customers.
Smart meters allow officers not to do recording in the field because the data on the use of piped water will be stored and sent automatically.

The installation of this technology is said to have a positive impact on 20 to 40 thousand customers, especially in improving the quality of water distribution.
August hopes that this smart meter technology can be immediately implemented evenly and provide solutions to various problems related to pressure and water leakage that have been an obstacle for the community.
"We fully support this program. With the installation of cybel meters, residents as consumers can experience firsthand the improvement of services from PAM Jaya," he said.
Previously, the President Director of PAM Jaya, Arief Nasrudin, revealed the application of a smart meter based on LoRaWan. This device will replace conventional methods in reading customer water meters.
"With this technology, customers will experience real benefits, such as higher accuracy in recording the use of water and the convenience of reading meters in real-time without having to interfere with their privacy," explained Arief, some time ago.
