Kunto Aji's View Regarding The Ban On Voice Social Political Issues On The Music Stage

JAKARTA - A number of musicians have also voiced their aspirations regarding the political issues that have rocked the country recently. One of them is Kunto Aji, who is currently undergoing a series of tours, Traveling to Offer Toxics.

Unable to take to the streets during the demonstration took place at the DPR office in Jakarta on August 22, at that time the musician held a concert tour in Jakarta. He also spoke by displaying a visual Garuda Biru banner indicating an Emergency Warning.

"Incidentally, when I first shared the banner on the screen at my own concert. So I don't need permission to go anywhere, it's safe for me (visual)," said Kunto Aji to VOI via voice message, August 27.

A number of other musicians did the same thing and admitted that they had faced a ban from the organizers. Kunto Aji himself experienced it recently, when he was advised not to bring political issues on stage.

"I had a gig in Pekanbaru from the committee asking for help not just yet, because at that time we performed at the provincial birthday event. The stage was only a few songs, and the songs we usually set banners we couldn't install. Some committees may have a sense of concern," he said.

Trying to understand the position of the concert organizing committee, this musician from Yogyakarta has prepared other ways to speak up. There are creative ways that are an alternative to keep the voice.

"If I will definitely continue to fight for it to be broadcast, except for certain events that technically cannot. There are actually other ways that can be done, I have plan B, for example, can't be done on visuals, can be on cellphones, on paper or affixed to the guitar. The important thing is the gesture, it doesn't always have to be on LED," concluded Kunto Aji.
