JAKARTA - Currently, Malina Moye is one of the most prominent female guitarists. Apart from being good at playing the guitar, this left-handed woman is also good at composing songs and singing.

His first single, Girl, which was released through his own record label WCE Records in 2004, even managed to sit at number 43 on the Billboard charts for the hip-hop R&B category.

This Fender guitar ambassador was not only nicknamed "the female version of Jimi Hendrix" by a number of media, but was also named one of the top 10 female guitarists in the world that Guitar World magazine should know about.

Quoted from various sources, Malina's actions became even more glamorous when in 2007 she appeared in a British-released documentary titled Startmaster: Greatest Guitar Story Ever Told with legends such as Robert Clay, Mark Knopler, and Jimi Hendrix.

Malina has also received many invitations to perform at a number of blues festivals such as the Robert Johnson Blues Festival as the only female vocalist and left-handed guitarist. He shared the stage with living blues legends David Honeyboy Edwards, Hubert Sumlin, and Pinetop Perkins. It didn't stop there, one of the headliners of the 2014 Jakarta Blues Festival was also named as the opening act at several points in the Robin Thicke and Boyz II Men concerts in 2009.

The guitarist who was born on August 20, 1984 has also been asked to be the 'singer' of the American national anthem The Star Spangled Banner in the american football match between the Vikings and the Cowboys in front of 80 thousand spectators.

This moment also made Malina the first African-American woman to play the American national anthem using an electric guitar in a professional sporting event.

However, of the various major music events that she has involved in, one that she is proud of is when she took part in the Experience Hendrix Tour in 2012. She shared the stage with guitarists of the caliber of Eric Johnson, Eric Gales, Brad Whitford, Kenny Wayne Sheperd to Johnny Lang.

And Malina Moye - who released the album Rock N' Roll Baby in 2014 - was again the only female guitarist to appear among the blues kings at the event.

Malina's last album, Bad As I Wanna Be, was released four years ago. The American version of the album contains six tracks and the European version has ten songs. The album reached number one for two consecutive weeks on the Billboard Blues chart published on May 8 and 15, 2018.

Malina told HuffPost that the album is about "self-celebration and being your own superhero". Meanwhile, Parade magazine stated, "Moye has proven himself once again as an incredibly talented electric guitarist."

Women's International Music Network did not miss commenting on the album. According to them; "The album contains six powerful songs, each unique in lyrical content and sound featuring Moye's distinct blend of rock, soul, pop, and funk."
