Prabowo Calls The Government Cares For Ethnic Rohingya Only Imaging Today's Memory, September 16, 2017

JAKARTA Memories of today, seven years ago, September 16, 2017, the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized that Indonesia's assistance to the Rohingya ethnicity was not unstable, only in the style of Joko Widodo (Jokowi). Prabowo thinks that the aid initiative will not be maximized because Indonesia is not a strong country.

Previously, the genocide committed by the Myanmar government against the Rohingya in Rakhine was condemned by the world. Indonesia directly expressed its protest and immediately sent humanitarian aid to the Myanmar-Bangladesh border.

Ethnic Rohingya is a portrait of discrimination and racism that occurred in Asia. The Myanmar government doesn't seem to want to recognize them as citizens. This condition made the life of the Rohingya people in the Rakhine region never thought about it.

Instead of getting justice, they are considered a defender. Recently, ethnic Rohingya began to have fled to various countries in 2013. They tried to visit other Asian countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia, to Thailand.

Myanmar's intention to expel Rohingya came to the fore in 2017. The Myanmar government tried to deploy a military to expel and kill ethnic Rohingya. Genocide that took advantage of the issue of rebel pursuit made the whole world condemn the actions of the Myanmar government.

Myanmar's peace figure Aung San Suu Kyi became the target. The Indonesian government even visited her to Myanmar. The Indonesian government asked her to advise the Myanmar government to stop being hostile to the Rohingya ethnic group on September 4, 2014.

The Indonesian government did not forget to ask Myanmar to immediately open a path for the distribution of aid to ethnic Rohingya who were in refugee camps in Bangladesh. Another form of education was stated through the distribution of 34 tons of humanitarian aid on September 13, 2017.

The assistance included food packages and clothes. The release of aid brought by the four Hercules planes was carried out by President Jokowi. Later, the aid will be distributed at the border between Myanmar and Bangladesh.

"Why do we use planes, because from past experience, using containers takes a long time. Even though this assistance is urgently needed, it is hoped that refugees will use it as soon as possible on the border of Bangladesh and Myanmar."

"I would like to thank all those who have helped. Those together with the government, both the community, from mass organizations, local governments, businessmen who together will also send assistance to our brothers and sisters," Jokowi said as quoted by the COMPASS.com page, September 13, 2017.

Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto also spoke about the assistance Jokowi sent on September 16, 2017. The opposition figure said that the assistance sent was only a form of imagery. No more.

Prabowo views that Indonesia under Jokowi cannot do much to help the fate of the Rohingya ethnicity. Indonesia under Jokowi is considered to be a weak country. This condition makes Indonesia have no power to protect the fate of the Rohingya ethnicity.

"Even though we are now sending aid, I think it's an image. Sending aid doesn't even sometimes. So here I have to tell you so you don't get emotional."

"Believe me, if we are strong, we will help the Rohingya, we will clean it up. We must be strong to help the weak, we cannot help weakly, poorly help the poor," Prabowo said as quoted by the COMPASS.com page, September 16, 2017.
