JAKARTA Memories of today, 10 years ago, August 14, 2014, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) awarded the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) the Scout Movement jasmine badge. SBY considers Jokowi to have a big contribution to advancing Scouts.

Before, Jokowi during school was known to be active as a Scout member. Jokowi felt for himself how independence and leadership were forged. This condition made him fully support the progress of the scout movement in Jakarta.

The Scout Movement for Jokowi is not just a matter of excitement. He considers Scouts can train someone related to leadership, scarcity, and independence. A person's mentality can be forged.

Jokowi also felt for himself at a time when he was still a school kid. He was already attracted to the Scout Movement. He considers Scouts are always able to provide room for learning new things. The Scout camp event which is usually held on Saturday-Sunday is often followed by him.

His passion is looking for traces. This memory was never forgotten by Jokowi. As a result, Jokowi is like having a moral responsibility for raising the Scout Movement. He often gave full support to the Scout Movement when he was the regional head in Solo, then Jakarta.

This seriousness can be seen when there is a Scout celebration in the Southeast Asian and international class. Jokowi often gives full support to those competing in Jambore. He even imagined what if he used to be able to participate in the Jambore flash event.

Jambore participants are not allowed to think about many things. The DKI Jakarta government is willing to bear everything. The experience in Jambore can then show the best image for Indonesia and Jakarta.

Jokowi's active support for Scouts made him asked to be the Chair of the Scout Regional Guidelines Council (Mabida) in 2013. Khalayak also greeted him with great fanfare. Jokowi was chosen because he was considered a figure who understood and supported the Scout Movement to develop in Jakarta.

The gift was made in the 53rd Anniversary of the Scouts at the Cibubur Campground. SBY gave it to Jokowi because the figure has a greater service and service for the interests of the Scout Movement.

Jokowi also admitted that he was happy with the award. He also said that the biggest award was being able to inspire others to act.

Jokowi hopes that the Scout Movement will not only become the concern of each regional government. The Scout Movement must get national support. This condition is so that Indonesia's dream of becoming a great nation is maintained.

"There is the formation of character, discipline, cooperation that is built and children's leadership. It must be given attention. Children tend to only be encouraged by science without the support of skills and forget about character development.
