Pieter Erberveld To Oey Add Sia: Crazy Rich Colonial Era Sentenced To Death By Dutch Colonizers

JAKARTA - The existence of a creative rich has been present since the Dutch colonial era. Take for example the figures of Pieter Erberveldcrazy Richera VOC and Oey Add Sia during the colonial government of the Dutch East Indies. The rich and very rich can buy anything, even very easily.

All kinds of desires are able to be realized. However, one thing that cannot be bought: law. Both are considered to disturb peace in Batavia. The Dutch sentenced them to death in a sadistic way typical of the invaders.

Rich and very rich people often appeared in the Dutch colonial era. That wealth can come from anywhere. Moreover, in the era of the triumph of Dutch trading partnerships, the VOC. The road to becoming a wealthy man is wide open, from the way of struggle to corruption.

Paracrazy Rich is scattered throughout Batavia. Pieter Erberveld, one of them. Pieter, who is often called Tuan Gusti, is listed as one of the rich people in Batavia. His house is in the elite Jacatraweg area (now: Jalan Pengeran Jayakarta).

He is famous as the land owner in Batavia. Even though Pieter earned a lot of land from his parents' legacy. This wealth made Pieter famous. Instead of being widely known by the Dutch alone, Pieter is actually very close to the natives because of his generosity.

The Company is also trying to find it because of it. Hundreds of hectares of Pieter's land were trying to be seized. The Company uses its power to make Pieter's land look invalid. This condition made Pieter angry.

The strategy was also played. He plans to do a large-scale treason. He wants to kill all the Dutch in Batavia. He also invited a native Bumiputra, Raden Kartadria, to smooth out a treason plan.

Pieter gave the option of the day of the attack to fall between the New Year or Chinese New Year in 1722. It was a moment that was deemed appropriate to attack the Netherlands because they were enjoying the excitement of the party. Problems arise. Pieter's plan and his Bumiputra's colleagues were leaked.

The Company took a stand and immediately arrested all of its intelligence. The owner of power then executed all those who were involved viciously. Pieter himself was executed in the most painful way.

Feet and hands were tied to four horses. Then, the horses ran oppositely which made Pieter's skin burst. Pieter's head was gagged and stabbed into a spear. After that, his skull was placed on a curse inscription in Jacatraweg (now: the skin burst inscription has been moved to the Taman Prasasti Museum).

Three days before the killing of Kompeni people, all meeting participants, who were taking place at Erberveld's house, were arrested. Participants of this meeting were faced with an extraordinary court, which was pressured by the Governor General. Because there is no evidence, they were tortured cruelly until they confessed; then sentenced to death.

The death penalty was carried out on April 22, 1722. Erberveld and Kartadria along with 17 followers of the bumiputra (of whom three women) were brutally murdered in the south field of Batavia Fort (now: the area around Jalan Tongkol). Their bodies were all cut and their hearts were removed. Erberveld himself was then pulled four corners with four horses until it broke into four parts," said historian Adolf Heuken in the book Historical Places in Jakarta (2016).

Crazy Richera, the colonial government of the Dutch East Indies, did not want to lose. Oey Add Sia, his name. Oey is rich because he inherited the land, business, and jewelry of his parents. This wealth makes men born in 1827 grow up to be individuals who like spree.

They don't want Oey with his talent to see their daughter. Because, when Oey has seen, it's almost certain that the woman in the house can be dated. Oey even has his own Haem in Ancol. Harem it's called Bintang Mas. There, Oey often has fun changing women.

Problems arose when Oey fell in love with the pesinden, Mas Ajeng Gunjing. At first Mas Ajeng was placed in the Bintang Mas Bungalow. Later, Oey was interested in bringing him back to his house in Tangerang. Disaster ensued. Oey caught fire of jealousy.

He killed Mas Ajeng's brother, Mas Sutejo, who made him jealous secretly. However, Oey's assistant saw all these incidents. Oey poisoned him. Oey then slandered his Chinese rival, Liem Soe King as the culprit. The intention was unsuccessful.

The Dutch East Indies government took a stand. The investigation was carried out. Oey is considered proven guilty of the murder of two murders. The narrative sentenced Oey to death. He was also sentenced to be hanged in 1856.

Oey is at home enjoying his honeymoon. After that the guidance recurred again. He almost never came home. Most of the time was missed at Bintang Mas, Ancol to have fun with his former grocery man's wife.
