Sofia Boutella Joins The Dancer Side In Rebel Moon

JAKARTA - Actress Sofia Boutella is believed to be the main character in the film Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire. Her career as a dancer turned out to help Boutella in acting through the direction of director Zack Snyder.

"As a dancer, a big element in life and to do anything, especially about my discipline and structure. Like working training for my condition, for a diet," Sofia Boutella said at a Rebel Moon press conference on Monday, December 11.

"It's an element structure that helps but also how I learn choreography, to always see before doing so. And you do it in your brains. That's very helpful," he continued.

In the film Rebel Moon, Sofia Boutella plays Kora, a mysterious figure who faces an enemy he doesn't expect. He uses a weapon as one of Kora's properties and characteristics.

"One element I'm afraid of is how to hold a gun but because Kora is used to it, I started studying with the stunt team," said Sofia Boutella.

We designed how Kora holds and walks with weapons. Dancing is really a big part of my life," he said.

When asked about the similarities, Sofia Boutella admitted that her character's journey had little resemblance to her.

"It feels like going from your homeland, going to another world, then starting from scratch and feeling like you weren't there," Sofia Boutella said.

'I was born in Algeria and then moved to France at the age of 10, then moved to Los Angeles in the early 20s. I don't feel like from any geography but at the same time, I feel easy to adapt,' said Boutella.

Rebel Moon tells the story of Kora who comes to a village inhabited by farmers, but a fact makes her go a different journey to save herself.

The first part of the Rebel Moon film will be released on December 15 on Netflix.
