One Piece Live Action Series Cast Announced. Who Are They?

JAKARTA - The streaming service Netflix announced the cast of the One Piece live-action series on Wednesday, November 10. The five cast members are Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji.

At the same time, One Piece manga creator Eiichiro Oda shared a message to fans. It is known that he also serves as executive producer for this live-action project.

“It's been a few years since it was announced, hasn't it? I know, I know! But believe me, we have made good progress so far," said Eiichiro Oda.

"It's not easy when working with people from different cultures. But it's the process that produces something special," continued Oda.

The five main characters went through a long process with Oda and the Netflix team. According to him, these five actors have a similar aura to the Straw Hat Pirates crew.

"We will give our best to present this series and we are sure it will be enjoyed by everyone around the world. Please look forward to the latest news in the future," concluded Oda.

Previously, Netflix uploaded a leaked One Piece series script which coincided with the release of the manga's 100th volume last September.

The One Piece live-action series will consist of 10 episodes that tell the journey of Luffy and his friends. The series is directed by Steven Maeda, who also wrote and produced as Oda.

This series is also produced by Tomorrow Studios after Cowboy Bebop which will be released in the near future. With this, Netflix is further expanding their wings to adapt manga in serial format.
