Sri Mulyani Says Minimum 3 Years All Documents Will Be Digitally Signed

JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that the COVID-19 pandemic is accelerating digital transformation. This was conveyed at the Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations Conference 2021, which was held online last weekend

"We (Ministry of Finance) actually plan to convert all documents to digital with a minimum period of three years. The signature will be digital. The policy of a digital and more flexible workspace. Then we were hit by a pandemic and couldn't go to the office, then we had to change as soon as possible," said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, in a statement quoted from the Ministry of Finance website, Monday, August 23.

Before the pandemic, the government prepared for industrial revolution 4.0 and made sure the community was ready to face it. A digital economy that affects people's lives, where artificial intelligence is taking over many jobs.

"People do not have the same readiness for digital transformation. They should not use technology for consumptive activities but be more productive or even create catalysts for innovation and productivity. That is why Indonesia is reforming the education sector. So that people become players rather than just passive recipients of this technological change," continued Sri Mulyani.

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector is one of the sectors that are adapting during the pandemic. The sector is turning to digital platforms and marketplaces in order to serve consumers.

To support this digital transformation, the government is committed to improving connectivity. Thus, all people in both urban and rural areas have good access.

"Infrastructure is very important. So we invested a lot in digital infrastructure. We built a palapa ring for connectivity, namely a 12,140 km satellite so that we can connect, especially cities and regencies that have not been connected with good quality will be able to connect," concluded the Minister of Finance.
