JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is collaborating with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) to oversee the revitalization of idle ponds in Pantura. This is to increase the productivity of aquaculture sustainably.
"We have met with the Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Muhammad Yusuf Ateh to discuss the plan to revitalize tens of thousands of hectares of idle ponds spread along the Pantura route," said Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, quoting Antara.
Minister Trenggono wants the reconstruction of these ponds to run according to the rules. The revitalization program is to revive unused ponds for tilapia cultivation activities.
"In its implementation, the involvement of various sectors is needed. Starting from talking about land ownership, population data, to supervision of its implementation," said Trenggono.
Starting the idle pond revitalization program, KKP has built a saline tilapia cultivation modeling (BINS) in Karawang, West Java as a pilot project. The cultivation method applied in Karawang can be duplicated to support the idle pond revitalization program.
BINS is a modeling system for a modern, profitable, and sustainable saline tilapia fish cultivation business. To replicate this model in various places without burdening state finances, the party plans to involve business actors so that production is more focused and optimal.
On the other hand, the state will still receive income to carry out development in other regions.
"KKP needs a BPKP legal fatwa to be able to implement the BINS Karawang management business model in accordance with applicable provisions and regulations," he said.
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) will revitalize the 'mangkrak ponds' in the North Coast (Pantura) of Java. The implementation of the pond revitalization project is planned to begin in 2025.
The initial revitalization will begin in 2025, targeting 13 thousand hectares of idle ponds from a total area of 78 thousand hectares. The revitalization is targeted to be completed in 2029 in four provinces and 28 districts/cities.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Muhammad Yusuf Ateh welcomed the idle pond revitalization program planned by KKP.
Ateh said he was ready to support the cultivation program which is one of the implementations of President Prabowo's Asta Cita in fulfilling food security.
"We will immediately study the land that will be used along with modeling existing cultivation,” said Ateh.
