Agus Gumiwang Supports Prabowo Add Ministry: President's Prerogative Rights Cannot Be Restricted

JAKARTA - Minister of Industry (Menperin) and Chairman of the Golkar Party Board of Trustees Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita supports the move of President-elect Prabowo Subianto to increase the number of ministries.

He said that so far there has never been a direct statement from Prabowo regarding the addition of ministries in the era of his government.

So, it is better for the public to follow the existing developments.

"That, right, there are several statements from several people. But, right, Mr. Prabowo's statement said that there would be an increase in the number of cabinets yet. So, we just follow that," Agus said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, quoted Friday, September 13.

"But, what is certain is that there has been no statement from the President (Pelected Prabowo Subianto) himself that he will increase the portion or number of cabinets," he continued.

Agus claimed that he was the first person to reveal to the public that Prabowo's prerogative as president-elect should not be limited.

"If media friends can open a track record, especially digital, I am the first person to publicly state that the president's prerogative should not be limited. That was moments after Mr. Prabowo was appointed president-elect," he said.

The Minister of Industry also supports the efforts of the elected president to increase the number of ministries. According to him, the ministerial figure should not be limited. This is because the needs of each president are different.

"I have conveyed a statement that the ministerial figure should not be limited because the needs of each president are different. So, in principle I support it," he said.

Previously, Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Habiburokhman, considered it natural for the number of ministries to be increased.

Because, according to him, Indonesia is a big country so it needs help from many parties.

"In the context of a large number of countries, it means big, for me it's good. Our country, right, big country. Our challenges are big, our targets are big," said Habiburokhman when met at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, May 6.

Habiburokhman assessed that the increasing number of ministries is actually good for government and public services because Indonesia has a target as well as a big challenge to achieve.

"It's natural that we need to gather a lot of people, gather in the government so that it becomes big," he added.
