Coordinating Minister Airlangga Targets 70 Percent Of Indonesian People Receive Vaccines By The End Of This Year

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said the government is targeting the provision of the COVID-19 vaccine to 70 Indonesians by the end of 2021.

According to him, the vaccination program is very important to achieve herd immunity so that people can return to normal activities while at the same time encouraging the process of national economic recovery.

"Vaccination has been implemented and the target is that by the end of the year 70 percent of the population will have been vaccinated. "On this occasion, I urge all Muslims to invite the public to participate in vaccinations," he said in a statement after opening the IV Congress of the Brotherhood Council of Muballighin, Saturday, March 27.

Airlangga added until now the number of people who have been vaccinated will reach 10 million people with a vaccination rate approaching 500,000 injections per day.

"The vaccines given have received Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) and are declared halal by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI)," he said.

He further explained that controlled cases of COVID-19 through vaccination and Micro-PPKM created increased public trust, which was reflected in the increasing trend in the index and frequency of spending.

To maintain the momentum of economic recovery, Airlangga said that in 2021 the government is committed to continuing the national economic recovery through several programs, including capital and credit.

"It is time for the people to be invited to realize economic independence by doing entrepreneurship by utilizing existing sharia-based financing facilities," he said.

Furthermore, Airlangga also conveyed about the Money Waqf National Movement launched by President Joko Widodo on January 25, 2021.

"I want to convey that the government will always need the cooperation of all stakeholders, including preachers, who have a major influence in giving direction to Muslims in Indonesia, in order to promote health and economic recovery," concluded the Coordinating Minister for Airlangga.
