President Director of Garuda Indonesia, Irfan Setiaputra, said that in the second quarter of 2024, Garuda Indonesia group recorded a growth in the number of passengers by 34.99 percent or reached 6.11 million passengers.
"The growth was 34.99 percent compared to the same period in the previous year, which was 4.52 million passengers. Thus, until the end of the first semester of 2024, Garuda Indonesia managed to transport 11.53 million passengers," he said in an official statement, Tuesday, August 13.
Irfan said the growth in the number of passengers was also reflected in the growth in Garuda Indonesia Group's flight frequency by 18.90 percent until the end of the first semester of 2024 when compared to the same period last year.
On the other hand, Garuda Indonesia on a consolidated basis in the second quarter of 2024 also managed to record a growth in the number of cargo transportations by 37.80 percent or to 53,326 tons of cargo on a year-on-year (yoy) basis.
Irfan explained that one of the improvements was supported by the growth of general cargo commodities, especially international cargo traffic of Garuda Indonesia, which grew by 54.01 percent.
"The achievement in the second quarter of 2024 represents strengthening Garuda Indonesia's performance in the midst of the momentum of accelerating the company's performance recovery phase, which is currently supported by various corporate action initiatives, both from passenger flight services and cargo transportation at Garuda Indonesia and Citilink," he explained.
Irfan said the number of passenger transportation was contributed by Garuda Indonesia (mainbrand) as many as 2.85 million passengers, which reflected an increase of up to 56.70 percent of the 1.82 million passengers in the second quarter of 2023.
Meanwhile, the number of Citilink transportation also grew 20.44 percent (yoy) to 3.26 million passengers. The acquisition of cargo transportation was contributed by Garuda Indonesia (mainbrand) as much as 32,536 tons and Citilink as much as 20,790 tons," explained Irfan.
Furthermore, Irfan said that currently Garuda Indonesia continues to optimize the capacity of production equipment in line with the growing demand for community mobilization using air transportation.
