JAKARTA - A total of 274 families (KK) in Cimpur Hamlet, IV Pauh Ranap Hamlet and Pauh Ranap Village, Periap District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Riau Province can now enjoy 24-hour electricity.

This was after PT PLN (Persero) through the State Equity Participation (PMN) from the Government succeeded in presenting electricity in the 3T region (advantaged, frontier and outermost) in an effort to realize fair energy for the entire community.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo explained that as a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) authorized in the field of electricity, his party is committed to supporting the Government to increase national electrification.

"This is a tangible manifestation of the state being present for our brothers in the 3T area. With the support of the Government through PMN, the company continues to strive for the development of access to electricity to the end of the country as a form of fifth premise, Social Justice for All Indonesian People," said Darmawan, quoted Monday, May 13.

Darmawan hopes that the presence of access to electricity for residents can be a catalyst for community economic development in the 3T area, especially in Indragiri Hulu Regency. His party is also committed to accelerating national electrification in order to improve the welfare of people throughout the country.

"We hope that the presence of electricity access in the 3T region can support community activities and productivity so as to improve welfare in Indonesia," Darmawan continued.

General Manager of PLN Riau & Riau Islands Distribution Main Unit (UIDRKR), Parulian Noviandri also added, in order to provide access to electricity in the region, his party built an intermediate voltage network of 11 kilometers of circuits (kms), a low voltage network of 11 kms and a distribution transformer of 2 units with a capacity of 100 kiloVolt Ampere (kVA) each.

Although the area is located quite remote or about 236 km from Pekanbaru City and 100 km from Rengat City which is the capital city of Indragiri Regency upstream, it does not ignite PLN personnel to provide electrical access for brothers in the 3T area.

"The geographical conditions and limited road infrastructure have caused material mobilization difficulties. However, all these difficulties have not made us give up and we continue to strive to electrify all corners of the country with their resources so that the electrification ratio can reach 100 percent, so that people in remote hamlets can enjoy electricity," explained Parulian.

The presence of 24-hour electricity was greeted with joy by local residents. Sukirno, a resident of Hamlet IV Pauh Ranap who works as a farmer on a daily basis, said that apart from providing various facilities, PLN's electric entry for him was also able to ease the economic burden on residents. Before the presence of PLN electricity, he used an oil-fuel generator with an operational cost of IDR 1.4 million per month.

"Electricity flowing from the generator is only 6 hours per day. But now since using PLN electricity, the monthly cost is only Rp. 150 thousand and the electricity is 24 hours. Very cheap and affordable," said Sukirno.
