Overcoming Traffic Jam Problem, Joglo Underpass Development In Solo Is Speeded Up This Year

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Directorate General of Highways targets the construction of the Joglo Underpass in Solo, Central Java, to be completed this year.

The construction of this underpass is expected to overcome the problems of congestion that have occurred for a long time at Simpang Joglo, which is a national non-tol logistics route connecting Surabaya-Jakarta.

"The construction will start at the end of 2022 and is targeted for completion in 2024," reads the statement @pupr_binamaraga, quoted on Tuesday, March 19.

The plan is that this Joglo Underpass will have a total length of 434 meters (m) with a width of 18 m.

In order to accelerate construction, there are several traffic engineering that must be carried out. Traffic engineering is by closing two roads around the construction site.

As of February 2024, Jalan Ki Mangun Sarkoro and Jalan Pledge Pemuda were closed in the context of Joglo Underpass work in the middle of the intersection segment.

For Class I and VI vehicles, such as motorbikes, private cars and medium buses, they are allowed through the Joglo Intersection of southern crossings.

Meanwhile, for Class III, IV, and V vehicles such as trucks with axes 3, 4 and 5 doubles are diverted via toll roads.
