PLN UID Jakarta Inaugurates Edufarm Malasani, Supports SDGs Commitment

JAKARTA - Through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, PT PLN (Persero) of the Greater Jakarta Distribution Main Unit (UID) inaugurated Edufarm Malasani in the Duren Sawit area, East Jakarta, on Thursday, December 7.

This is done in order to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for decent work, economic growth, and increased food security.

"Yes, we are at Edufarm Malasani today. This is a form of our commitment to provide assistance in the form of CSR to the people in DKI," said General Manager of PLN Main Distribution Unit (UID) Jakarta Raya Lasiran to reporters, Thursday, December 7.

Lasiran said that the Women's Group of Farmers D'Shafa as the driver of Edufarm Malasani was a partner fostered by the TJSL program of PLN UID Jakarta Raya since 2022 until now.

The assistance that has been provided in 2022 is worth IDR 50 million, including the construction of green houses and floating rafts. Meanwhile, the assistance provided in 2023 is IDR 400 million, including the construction of the second green house and various supports for MSMEs. Starting from planting, production, packaging, and showcase.

"In the future, we will focus on strengthening the competence of human resources and the construction of Edufarm Malasani infrastructure," said Lasiran.

He added that in the future his party will continue the existing TJSL program, by developing edufarm in other places in the DKI Jakarta area.

"So, later there will be many MSME centers that can support themselves, increase people's income as well as absorb labor," he said.

On the same occasion, Local Hero Edufarm Malasani Haryati expressed her gratitude to PLN UID Jakarta Raya for providing program assistance.

"I am very grateful for this CSR assistance. The impact is that our turnover has also increased, and we are increasingly known, and there are many visits from anywhere," he said.

It is known, Edufarm Malasani is a forum for urban farmer groups in the DKI Jakarta area managed by the Women Farmers Group (KWT) D'Shafa

Edufarm has four excellent programs, namely green houses, post-harvest processing, marketing, and education.

In Edufarm, there are a variety of vegetables and fruit planted by KWT D'Shafa. From the products of vegetables and fruit planted, it is then processed into superior products, such as vegetable salads, fruit salads, vegetable salt, and so on.

Currently, Edufarm Malasani has been managed by 13 members with details from four-community partners and the rest are local communities.

The turnover from Edufarm Malasani has reached Rp. 125 million per month to date. The turnover comes from the sale of vegetable and fruit processing.
