Starting Today, Kemenkop UKM Collaborates With BPS To Conduct Complete Data Collection Of KUMKM 2023

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs (Kemenkop UKM) cooperates with the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) to collect complete data on cooperatives and MSMEs (PL-KUMKM) 2023.

This is done as an effort to encourage the creation of a single database of Cooperatives and MSMEs in Indonesia.

"We invite the heads of offices in charge of Cooperatives and MSMEs, as well as the Head of BPS in all provinces to collaborate with each other in carrying out the updating process of the data that has been collected, so that the existence of single data for cooperatives and MSMEs can provide factual information and can navigate the MSME business in the future," said Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs (Menkop UKM) Teten Masduki in an official statement received by VOI, Friday, September 15.

The complete data collection of the 2023 Cooperatives and MSMEs has been started today, Friday, September 15 to October 14.

For the data collection itself, it will be carried out door-to-door with a computer assisted personal interview (CAPI) data collection mode by BPS officers equipped with identification.

In addition to asking for a questionnaire, officers will do a geotag and take special photos of cooperative and MSME buildings.

Meanwhile, the information collected includes information on business units/companies that include business names and addresses, information on business actors, and information on business characteristics.

Later, the data collection is expected to be able to produce the output of the single database of cooperatives and MSMEs by name by address based on demographics and business characteristics.

Teten said, from the results of the PL-KUMKM conducted by the Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs in 2022, 9 million MSME data were obtained by name by address.

Furthermore, in 2023, data collection will target 215 regencies/cities in 32 provinces (except for DIY and Bali Provinces) in non-farm businesses, both residential and non-residential.

He added that the existence of single data is important for 64 million MSMEs in Indonesia, which are still faced with various challenges, such as access to financing, market access, and adequate information technology.

"To help MSME players overcome these problems, the government needs the availability of data and information that can provide an overview of the needs of MSME actors in the country as well as for planning and evaluation purposes," said Teten.

Meanwhile, Acting (Plt) Head of BPS Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said the availability of the latest and sustainable single-source of truth cooperative and MSME databases is vital for the government and other data users.

"The availability of single databases for Cooperatives and MSMEs is also useful in supporting the accuracy and effectiveness of government policies and targeting community empowerment programs. Therefore, I invite all MSME actors to participate in the 2023 (PL-KUMKM) by conveying the real information to our officers," he added.

The development of a single database itself has several urgencys for the development of MSMEs in the country, including being able to become a means of development planning, the basis for determining targeted beneficiaries, measuring MSME performance with certain indicators, to measuring the effectiveness of MSME empowerment programs through monitoring and evaluation.
