Ministry Of Transportation: Overall Manggarai Station Construction Will Be Completed In 2025

JAKARTA - The construction of the entire Manggarai station is targeted to be completed in 2025. Where it will become a transportation center in Jabodetabek.

The Director General of Railways at the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal, said that the Manggarai station will be a central station that is integrated with the LRT, Transjakarta, and other public transportation. Manggarai also serves not only KRL but also long-distance trains and airport trains.

Currently, the work being carried out includes the construction of a double-double track (DDT) track; the construction of stations, depots, signaling, telecommunication, and overhead electricity; and the arrangement of level crossings to be non-level.

“The construction is still ongoing and not finished. God willing, it will be completed in 2025 (the work on it)," said Risal at the Ngoras event at the Ministry of Transportation, Jakarta, written Tuesday, February 21.

Furthermore, Risal said that when construction is completed, the number of Jabodetabek KRL operating is targeted to reach 800 train sets per day.

"Talking about the target, in the future the headway will be 3 minutes and the target number of passengers is 1.2 to 2 million per day. Currently, there are still 900,000,” he said.

Furthermore, Risal did not deny that the construction of Manggarai Station had problems, namely ensuring that Commuter Line and long-distance train activities were not disrupted every day.

“The speed at which we build is also a determining factor. So the train is running, the development is also running," he said.

Even so, Risal said the construction of Manggarai Station as a central station was also planned to make it easier for travelers. Including in terms of comfort and safety by integrating between modes of mass transportation.

Risal also apologized to the public, especially KRL users, for the inconvenience caused so far due to construction at the Manggarai station.

"We are aware that what is happening right now is causing a lot of trouble for friends (KRL users) while traveling. For that we apologize on behalf of the government, for the delay in the development process that we are doing," he said.
