Prabowo Calls Menaker-Minister Of SOEs-PT Sritex Bahas Labor Become Victims Of Layoffs

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto summoned a number of ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, as well as representatives from PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk (Sritex) to find solutions to the impact of layoffs (PHK) on workers.

Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, to the Curator Team and Coordinator of the PT Sritex Workers Union gave a press statement at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Monday, regarding the results of the direction given by President Prabowo.

"On your instructions, the President is very concerned about how the government is looking for a way out, especially regarding the problems that will befall workers at PT Sritex," said Prasetyo Hadi.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo said that President Prabowo had briefed the ministers several times so that the problems that have befell Sritex since it was decided to go bankrupt in October 2024, will be addressed immediately.

The government also continues to facilitate that former Sritex workers can work again and oversee so that the right to compensation for layoffs remains fulfilled.

Minister of Manpower Yassierli explained that his party is still overseeing that employees at PT Sritex Group who own four subsidiaries receive employment social security according to their rights.

"Including old age insurance, JHT, and guarantees that job loss or JKP can be fulfilled. So, it is hoped that the JHT and JKP can be immediately utilized by workers," said Yassierli.

Based on the information gathered, the Department of Industry and Manpower (Disperinaker) of Sukoharjo Regency said that employees of PT Sri Rejeki Isman Tbk or Sritex stopped working from March 1, 2025.

Related to this, his party has said from the start that employee rights are old age insurance, job loss guarantees, and severance pay.

Head of the Sukoharjo Regency Disperinaker, Sumarno, said that so far the company has paid the premium in an orderly manner.

Meanwhile, President Director of PT Sritex Iwan Kurniawan Lukminto expressed his appreciation for the loyalty and dedication of the employees who have together built the textile company.

According to him, there are around 8 thousand Sritex employees in Sukoharjo Regency who have lost their jobs due to the bankruptcy. Meanwhile, overall, there are 12 thousand Sritex employees and three of their subsidiaries who have lost their jobs.
