Infiltration Wells Have Many Problems, Anies Baswedan: We Take Firm Action Against Contractors

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is aware that many infiltration wells or vertical drainage are having problems. Anies emphasized that resolving this problem is the responsibility of the contractor as the vendor of the infiltration well project.

Anies emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government will take strict action in the form of penalties for contractors working on infiltration wells with specifications below the agreed standard.

"Of course we will act decisively if there is a problem through a penalty mechanism against the contractor concerned if there are irregularities," said Anies in his statement, Monday, December 6.

Anies has instructed the relevant regional apparatus organizations (OPD) to identify the types of problems, then take solutions to these problems.

Anies ordered his staff to reprimand the contractors to solve problems that arise in accordance with procedures, as well as the standard duration of time for solving these problems.

"Do it immediately and call all those involved in the construction of vertical drainage, including the implementers/contractors," said Anies.

In order to prevent the mistake of making infiltration wells from repeating themselves, Anies ordered the Water Resources Service to provide information so that the construction of infiltration wells is made transparent so that the public knows.

"Give them a firm message so that the vertical drainage process is in accordance with standards, so that it functions optimally and does not interfere with the public interest, especially not to endanger other people," said Anies.

For information, recently, vertical infiltration or drainage wells in the Capital City have been in the spotlight. Towards the end of the year, the DKI Provincial Government is speeding up the construction of vertical drainage to reach 26 thousand points by the end of December 2021.

Unfortunately, a number of infiltration wells made were damaged. One of them is what the comic Soleh Solihun complained about. Soleh said that the construction of the infiltration well on Intan Street, Cilandak, South Jakarta was only carried out a month ago. Turns out, the cover was broken.

Then, the cover of the absorption well on Karang Tengah Street, Lebak Bulus also collapsed. So, local residents put flower pots to mark so that motorized vehicle users do not pass, until it is finally repaired.

Then, the infiltration well on Lebak Bulus III Street, Cilandak, South Jakarta collapsed and was paved. The asphalting was carried out to cover the infiltration well which was just made a month ago. Then, 23 points of infiltration wells are perforated to absorb water.
