Tokyo 2020 Olympics Organizers Will Vaccinate 70,000 Volunteers
JAKARTA - Organizers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games will give 70,000 volunteers helping at the Olympics the opportunity to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, the Nikkei newspaper reported.
According to the report, as quoted by Reuters via Antara, Sunday, June 27, now several volunteers have received vaccine injections.
Meanwhile, NHK media reported that in early June 2021, about 10,000 of the 80,000 volunteers who had registered to help organize the Olympics had resigned.

On the other hand, Olympics Minister Tamayo Marukawa on Friday, June 25 revealed that one of the members of the Uganda Olympic team who tested positive for the coronavirus upon arrival in Tokyo had the Delta variant.
The case also adds to the public's concern about the emergence of a new wave of infections resulting from the holding of this year's Tokyo Olympics.
