Barbaric! 73 Children Killed By Myanmar Military Regime

JAKARTA - At least 73 innocent children in Myanmar have been killed by the military regime according to the Ministry of Human Rights, the Government of National Unity (NUG). However, this data is not yet from all regions.

Nug explained, based on the data they have a number of children shot while playing near or inside the house when soldiers and police of the military regime conduct raids.

Quoting The Irrawaddy, Wednesday, May 26, the NUG said the children were killed as shots were fired by police and military while raiding residential areas to hunt down anti-coup protesters. Others were killed during the protests.

Among the dead was a 6-year-old 3-month-old KMC boy, shot dead as he sat terrified on his father's lap, as regime forces broke into his home.

There was also an 11-year-old AMT, fatally shot in the head at the time. playing in front of his house, and 13-year-old Sai Wai Yan who was shot in the back of the head while trying to escape from regime forces.

"The Mandalay region experienced the highest number of deaths with 26 deaths, while Yangon recorded 13 deaths," according to the NUG death list compiled from February 15 to May 15, 2021.

The Ministry of Human Rights said children killed in the current fighting in Chin, Kani, and Demoso State in Sagaing County, Kayah State were not included in the list.

Children killed by junta artillery strikes are also not documented on the list. The ministry said that an updated list would be released soon.

Children continue to be among those killed and wounded by regime airstrikes in ethnic areas where civilian resistance fighters defend themselves from attacks and regime crackdowns.

In the latest incident, a 13-year-old ARMY man was killed after his home was hit by artillery shells on Monday afternoon in Momauk Township, Kachin State. Locals said the bullets were fired by Myanmar military regime forces and several houses were also destroyed.

A 10-year-old boy was also killed in a bomb blast in Tedim, northern Chin State, which also injured six and ten-year-olds.

Since the government takeover on February 1, at least 827 people have been killed by regime forces, according to the Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), which tracks killings and detentions during the military coup.
