The Face-to-Face Learning At School Will Not Be Conducted In 4 East Java Regions In July

SURABAYA - As many as 34 out of 38 districts/cities in East Java will implement face-to-face learning (PTM) in July. Meanwhile, the remaining four regions have yet to implement PTM.

"Because the regent/mayor has not issued a recommendation. Because the conditions must be a recommendation from the regent/mayor, and from the local task force handling COVID-19", said Head of East Java Education Office Wahid Wahyudi, confirmed, Wednesday, April 7.

The four areas are Kediri Regency, Kediri City, Surabaya City and Malang City. Wahid said the four regions had not yet held the PTM, especially for high schools, vocational schools, and schools for disabled children levels.

However, Wahid stated that the PTM in East Java was ready to be implemented in July 2021. This readiness, said Wahid, is because East Java has been testing the PTM since August 2020.

"So in July 2021, we hope the face-to-face learning in Indonesia, including in East Java, will be ready from now on", he said.

Wahid said that the PTM regulations in East Java in July 2021 will remain the same as during the trial. Namely, having facilities and infrastructure as well as health protocol SOPs, as well as limiting the number of students in the class between 25 and 50 percent.

Face-to-face learning is only held for three hours. This means that after completing the teaching and learning process, students must go straight home.

"So in that class, there can only be 9 to 18 students. Normally 36 students. Teachers are not allowed to go around while teaching. So they can only stay in place and keep their distance from students", he said.
