Stranded In Kupang Waters, Six Chinese Foreigners Examined By The NTT Police

JAKARTA - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police conducted an investigation of six foreign nationals (foreigners) from China who were stranded in the waters of Kupang Bay, when they were about to be dispatched to Australia.

"While investigators are still being investigated by Sub-Directorate IV of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation of the NTT Police," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol Ariasandy, Antara, Friday, May 10.

This was conveyed by him related to the arrest of six foreigners from China who were suspected of going to Australia but were stranded in Kupang waters on Wednesday, May 8.

The six foreigners are Jiang Xiao Jia, Chen Xu, Li Ke Yang, Zhao Jin Xiang, Wang Dong Fang, and Dai Zhong Hoi,

He mentioned that apart from the six foreigners, there were also six Indonesian citizens from Southeast Sulawesi who were also stranded along with six Chinese foreigners on an unnamed ship.

The six Indonesian citizens include Jamaludin, Abang, Masir, Rudi Tastan, Marwin and Mustang. They are suspected of being crew members of the ship and the captain, who were paid to take the foreigners to Australian waters.

Ariasandy said that after the examination, a number of foreigners would be handed over to the Kupang Immigration Office for further treatment.

Meanwhile, the six Indonesian citizens will be prosecuted, and if it is found to have violated the criminal law, it will be processed in accordance with applicable law.

Head of the Kupang Immigration Office Christian Penna was contacted separately saying that after the examination, the NTT Police would submit it to Kupang Immigration.

"Today, the plan is to hand it over to Immigration when the NTT Police has finished the inspection process," he said.
