Fire In Sirimau Ambon Kills 1 Elderly, Fire Comes From Sparks On Cable Poles

MALUKU - A house fire that occurred in the BTN area of Cengkeh Gardens, Batu Merah Country, Sirimau District, Ambon City killed a 63-year-old resident.

"The victim died on behalf of Mrs. Mariam Basalamah as the owner of the house," said Head of Public Relations of the Ambon Island Police and PP Lease Ipda Janete S. Luhukay in Ambon, Maluku, Tuesday, April 16, which was confiscated by Antara.

Luhukay explained that based on witness Andi Rumbaru (59), this fire was allegedly triggered by sparks at the cable pole right above the roof of the victim's house tile.

The witness initially cooked the water and then heard the sound of sparks and he immediately ran from the kitchen in front of the house.

However, when in front of the house, the witness saw that the fire was right above the roof of the victim's house and tried to wake the victim from outside the fence of the house but there was no answer at all from inside.

"At that time the witness saw that the flames were getting bigger and bigger to the living room of the victim's house and the person concerned could not enter the house so he asked local residents for help," said Janete.

At 05.30 WIT, six units of fire engines from the Ambon City Government together with Sirimau Police personnel arrived at the scene and immediately together with local residents extinguished the fire and cooled it at the TKP.

"The police also evacuated the victim's body to the Bhayangkara Ambon Hospital and at the same time made a letter of rejection of autouption (checking the corpse) because of objections from the family," he said.
