Mount Merapi Is Still Active, This Is The Appearance Of Incandescent Lava At Night
JAKARTA - The incandescent lava avalanche activity of Mount Merapi is still being monitored.
Mount Merapi's incandescent lava avalanche activity was observed, Saturday, February 20 at 18.00-24.00 Western Indonesia Time.
During this period the weather around Mount Merapi was observed to be sunny to foggy. Incandescent lava shedding was observed 10 times with a maximum sliding distance of 1000 meters to the upper reaches of Boyong and Krasak river.

For the first time, an incandescent lava flow was observed sliding upstream of Sat River on the southwest side of Mount Merapi. The avalanche occurred at 20:37 Western Indonesia Time with an amplitude of 30 mm, a duration of 113 seconds, and a distance of 1,000 meters.

Potential hazards in the form of lava avalanches and hot clouds in the south-southwest sector include Kuning River, Boyong, Bedog, Krasak, Bebeng, and Putih with a maximum distance of 5 km. Meanwhile, the ejection of volcanic material in the event of an explosive eruption can reach a radius of 3 km from the summit.
