BMKG Urges Residents Of Natuna Riau Islands To Beware Of Bad Weather
The people of Natuna Regency, Riau Islands are advised to always be aware of extreme weather that has the potential to occur in the area. The head of the Ranai Meteorological Station, Ferimex Hutagalung, in a written statement, as quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 10, said that extreme weather that has the potential to occur is rain with moderate to heavy intensity accompanied by strong winds in the period of December 10-12.
He said the potential for rain with moderate to heavy intensity could potentially occur in the morning, afternoon and early morning.
Such conditions occur due to the cyclonic circulation pattern and convergence areas in the Natuna Waters area, thus affecting the growth of convective clouds which cause increased rainfall intensity.
"There are strong winds and high waves in the waters of Natuna Regency," he said.
Therefore, he reminded the public to always be careful and always monitor weather forecasts.
"Extreme weather can trigger hydrometeorological disasters such as tornadoes, puddles, floods, and landslides in the areas of Bunguran Island, Tiga Island, Serasan Island, Subi Island, Midai Island and Laut Island," he said.
Meanwhile, Natuna Dila residents said that such conditions are common when entering the end and beginning of the year.

Usually the rain accompanied by strong winds during that period will cause trees to fall.
"Hopefully it's not as bad as a few days ago," he said.
According to him, if it enters such a period, the scarcity of goods in Natuna will begin to occur because the distribution process of goods is disrupted.
"Usually the waves will also be high, ships are prohibited from sailing, the impact of the stock of goods in Natuna is reduced and it will be difficult to obtain, if it is expensive," he said.
