Denmark Open 2023: Hendra/Ahsan Grateful Despite Losing

JAKARTA The journey of Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad at the Denmark Open 2023 was stopped in the second round after losing against the Malaysian pair, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik. The pair nicknamed The Daddies surrendered three games 21-16, 5-21, and 15-21 in the hands of the fifth seed at Jyske Bank Arena, Odense, Denmark, Thursday, October 19, 2023 evening WIB.

This is the fifth defeat for The Daddies out of a total of 13 clashes with the Malaysian pair.

"Our strategy is still how to lower the ball first but indeed made a lot of mistakes. In addition, the opponent is also more prepared," said Ahsan.

"We are still grateful even though the results are lost. For the next time we must continue to maintain our stamina and if possible, we will add more energy," he added.

Hendra/Ahsan are the second representatives of Indonesia who were eliminated from the round of 16. Previously, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung had already felt the failure.

The loss of Hendra/Ahsan's journey makes Indonesia now just have to hope for Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.

The two pairs have not played a second half when this news was written. Fajar/Rian will face Ben Lane/Sean Vendy (England), while Bagas/Fikri meet Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae (Korea).

Apart from the two names, Indonesia can still hope from other sectors. Among them are men's doubles, men's singles, and mixed doubles.
