Social Minister Risma: No More Children Disposal Of Parents

DHARMASRAYA - Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini said no more children should throw away their parents. This was conveyed by Risma at the peak of the 27th National Elderly Day (HLUN) which was held in Dharmasraya Regency, West Sumatra, Monday, May 29. "Don't throw away parents, it's impossible for us to walk without parents, that's the main thing. If they can't afford it, leave it to us, look for centers belonging to the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), don't throw them away, we will take care of them (elderly) optimally," Risma said as quoted by Antara. For this reason, his party formed an elderly ambassador, most of whom consisted of elementary school (SD) and junior high school (SMP) children. Risma explained the facts found at several Ministry of Social Affairs centers, one of which was in Padang, West Sumatra, where parents were found living in culverts. For this reason, he emphasized that this would not happen again in the future. "One day we will be parents, but when we grow old we certainly don't want to be forgotten and ignored. As long as the parents' school has cared for us, paying for us, we want to be able to respect our parents and the elderly who have contributed to us," he said. As for commemorating the 27th HLUN, the Ministry of Social Affairs distributed assistance of Rp 23.89 billion which includes services to fulfill civil rights, including the manufacture of electronic elderly Identity Cards (KTP), birth certificates, family cards, and marriage certificates. Especially for marriage isbat, the Ministry of Social Affairs facilitates married couples who are not registered administratively, but have legally married religiously. The series of integrated marriage isbats took place on May 22 and 25, 2023. This service cooperates with the local Religious Court.

In addition, the Ministry of Social Affairs also facilitates basic health checks such as blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol, and uric acid, as well as cataract surgery and blood donation. On this occasion Social Minister Risma also gave awards to the elderly and parties who have excelled as well as contributing to issues of the elderly, individuals, families, and groups.
