Had Just Made Two Works, Amazon Laid Off 100 Employees in the Games Division!
JAKARTA - Amazon has again laid off 100 of its employees in its video game division, as part of a continuation of the previous reductions.
According to the memo to its employees, the games division affected included workers at Prime Gaming, Game Growth, and the company's San Diego studios.
"Our resources will be aligned to support our focus on content," Games Vice President Christoph Hartmann wrote in a memo to employees yesterday.
"Going forward, we will continue to invest in our internal development efforts, and our team will continue to grow as our projects progress"
Hartmann added, several staff have also been transferred to other projects that are in accordance with the company's strategic focus.
"There is never a pleasant way to share this kind of news, but we are committed to treating our affected employees with empathy and respect," said Hartmann.
"(We) will support them by offering severance pay, health insurance benefits, outplacement services, and payment terms to find a new job," he added.

Cited from Engadget, Wednesday, April 5, Amazon's game development has not gone well. Currently, the company only offers its online RPG game, New World. However, his free-to-play shooter Crucible was only briefly available to the public, then closed shortly after.
However, the teams at Irvine (developers of New World) and Montreal (an unannounced project) are still growing.
The new reductions come just weeks after Amazon planned to cut 9.000 positions, including some on live streaming service Twitch.
The layoffs, according to Amazon, are aimed at reducing costs across the company while dealing with a sluggish global economy and the fallout from the pandemic recovery.
