JAKARTA - Academy Awards ke-96 digelar pada Minggu, 10 Maret waktu setempat. Oppenheimer karya Christopher Nolan kembali mendominasi penghargaan dengan tujuh penghargaan termasuk Best Picture dan Best Director.
“Kami membuat film tentang seorang pria yang membuat bom atomik dan untuk yang lebih baik atau buruk, kita semua hidup di dunia Oppenheimer,” kata Cillian Murphy ketika menerima kemenangannya sebagai Lead Performance.
Kemenangan ini juga terasa fenomenal usai Christopher Nolan meraih penghargaan pertamanya sebagai Best Director. Namanya bukan terbilang baru dalam musim penghargaan mengingat namanya masuk ke dalam nominasi beberapa kali, namun ini pertama kalinya Nolan mendapat penghargaan.
Emma Stone juga mendapat penghargaan keduanya dalam kategori Best Actress tujuh tahun setelah La La Land. Penampilannya yang memperoleh respons positif lewat Poor Things menjadi kejutan dalam acara penghargaan.
Jonathan Galzer, sutradara Zone of Interest yang memenangkan International Feature menyuarakan pernyataan politik yang mengutuk tanggapan militer Israel.
