JAKARTA - Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Israel was ready to face any scenario possible, following a deadly attack earlier this month that killed two Iranian generals in Damascus, Syria.
The office of Defense Minister Gallant issued a statement regarding Israel's readiness, after he held an "operational situation assessment" with senior military officers.
"After completing the assessment, the Minister of Defense stressed that the defense agency had completed its response preparations in the event of any scenario that might occur against Iran," his office said.
Meanwhile, Israel's Chief of General Staff Defense Forces (IDF) Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi said, "Israel knows how to deal with Iran, offensively and defensively".
"We know how to act decisively against Iran, both in close and far areas. We are working with the US and strategic partners in the region," he said in a televised statement.
Iran threatened to respond to an alleged Israeli attack on the Iranian Embassy in Damascus last week that killed seven members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), with two of them senior generals.
Those killed were Major General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, Brigadier General Muhammad Hadi Haji-Rahimi, Hossein Amanollahi, Sayyid Mahdi Jaladati, Mohsen Sedaqat, Ali Agha Babaei and Sayyid Ali Salehi Roozabahi, citing Khamenei.ir.
Iran's senior Supreme Leader, Yahya Rahim Safavi, said on Sunday no one of Israel's embassies was safe anymore and that Tehran views confrontation with Israel as a "legitimate and legal right".
