JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade (Mendag) as well as the General Chairperson (Ketum) of PAN, Zulkifli Hasan alias Zulhas will face reports of alleged blasphemy at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Headquarters and violations of election administration in Bawaslu.

Both reports were filed by the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Yusuf following Zulhas' joke about praying when giving a speech at the National Working Meeting (Rakernas) of the Association of Indonesian Market Traders (APPSI).

"LBH Yusuf does not tolerate any insult to religion because of certain interests. Zulkifli Hasan (Minister of Trade) makes the prayer movement a joke," wrote LBH Yusuf in a written statement, Friday, December 22.

According to LBH Yusuf, Zulhas' joke was out of context in the APPSI National Working Meeting which was held in Semarang City, Central Java, on Tuesday 19 December.

"Zulkifli abused his position to support one of the particular candidate pairs, which is not an event for campaigns," reads the statement.

LBH Yusuf said that his party reported Zulhas on Thursday, December 21. One of them is Zulhas, allegedly related to violations as regulated in 156 Criminal Codes.

"He will be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of five years, whoever publicly expresses feelings or commits actions: a. which is basically hostility, abuse or blasphemy against a religion held in Indonesia," said the statement.

Previously, in a speech at the APPSI event, Zulhas joked about a fanatical group related to the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

Zulhas said, when praying, they did not dare to say 'Amen' after the priest read the letter Al Fatihah. In addition, Zulhas also mentioned that at the end of the tasyahud, the fingers that were inserted were not one but two.
