More Exciting, Apple Continues The Fight With Epic Games, Refuses Its App Store Business Loss

JAKARTA - Apple has continued to fight for its App Store business once by asking the United States Supreme Court (US) to hear its appeal to the anti-trust case Epic Games.

This case began when Epic Games sued Apple in 2020 over the removal of its popular game, Fortnite from the App Store.

In this case, Epic Games has violated Apple's rules by using third-party payment solutions for transactions carried out in the game.

However, Epic Games evaded by saying Apple was only removing the game because it did not receive commission fees of 30 percent like for every transaction made through a store payment system.

Therefore, cases then protracted for several years. But in April 2023, San Francisco-based 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals upheld previous decisions from 2021, which supported Apple.

Despite being a big win, but the Cupertino giant, the US lost 1 in 10 claims that had been filed. This includes, where the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals found Apple guilty of violating California's Unhealthy Competition Law.

The ruling states that Apple cannot ban third-party payment services, links or buttons leading to the gate.

Apple, of course, is not happy with this decision, because it will reduce its revenue and the company wants to take the case to the US Supreme Court.

There, Apple will request to rule out a decision made by the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals and allow its App Store to return to business as usual, where developers can deliver pieces of sales to Apple.
