Mojang, Minecraft Game Developer Not Planning To Enter Blockchain World

JAKARTA - Minecraft developer Mojang gave a statement regarding the Non-fungible Token (NFT) in the Minecraft game. The statement came after several Minecraft servers offered NFT asking players to participate.

NFTs are non-exchangeable digital tokens that are part of the blockchain and are often purchased with cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin.

Mojang said that it prohibits the existence of blockchain technology in applications and servers. "To ensure that Minecraft players have a secure and inclusive experience, blockchain technology is not allowed to be integrated within our client and server applications," Mojang said in a statement.

This means including in-game Minecraft content such as worlds, skins, persona items or other mods, there can be no blockchain technology to create rare digital assets.

"In our Minecraft Usage Guidelines, we outline how server owners can charge for access, and that all players should have access to the same functionality."

Mojang insists that they have rules by which they will ensure that Minecraft remains a place where everyone has access to the same content.

According to him, NFT and other blockchain technologies will only create differences between the rich and the poor, which is certainly not in harmony with Minecraft's values of creative inclusion and play together.

Due to the above reasons, the developer does not allow blockchain technology in its games. Mojang also has no plans to apply blockchain technology to Minecraft at this time.
