Single Concert, Maliq & D'Essentials Reveals Secrets Of Lasting 20 Years

JAKARTA - Maliq & D Essentials will celebrate 20 years of careers in the Indonesian music industry through a single concert. This concert will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at JI EXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta.

It is not easy for a band to be relevant in the midst of competition for Indonesian musicians. But for this six-person band, they explained how to survive and even develop into a band that listeners are still waiting for.

"All bands may be mostly formed by friendship and development, right. In 20 years, we certainly have ups and downs, from a band that has not been paid until now, we think about this concert, if not, how about it," said Angga, one of the vocalists of Maliq & D Essentials at a press conference Thursday, May 4, 2023.

'Bisnis is part of the band's professionalism. We have measurable work and goal systems,' added Widi, drummer for Maliq & D Essentials.

Throughout their careers, they always discuss what they want to do next. Likewise when deciding to hold a single concert for the first time.

"We've gone through several substitutions, the change of personnel team, only the heaviest maybe every time we ask what we want to do again? From the start, we always said we have to do something, for example album works, songs continue to learn from each other to recognize our partners and team," said Indah, vocalist of Maliq & D Essentials.

"We continue to add challenges to us. From the beginning, Maliq has always been asked why he doesn't make songs like the first album. We learn to continue to want what we can do to be there, so this band continues to grow. For example, Maliq is a concrete business," he continued.

'Maliq is getting bolder to take risks. Concerts, not concerts are fine. But we need new problems so that the band thinks again,' said Widi.

Widi added that single concerts are their challenge for the spirit of music in the following year. They even have new plans after the concert is held and develop other aspects.

"There are not many musicians after 20 years who are enthusiastic about creative exploration. Based on the other idols at the age of 30, they are doing something else. The concert is trigger to work on and be enthusiastic in the following year," said Widi.

Meanwhile, Maliq & D Essentials sells tickets for additional single concerts today, Friday, May 5, 2023. A total of 2500 tickets are sold in various categories for fans who have not received tickets.
