YOGYAKARTA The plan to increase the Value Added Tax (VAT) rate is 12 percent accompanied by the provision of a 50 percent electricity discount. The government's plan to give a 50 percent electricity discount for 2 months needs to be known by the public so that it can be utilized optimally. To get it, people need to know how to discount 50 percent of electricity rates.

Regarding the 50 percent discount on electricity rates, the President Director of PT PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo, said that the tariff discount was intended for prepaid and postpaid electricity customers.

For people who use prepaid electricity, the way to get discounts is to buy electricity tokens as usual. Purchases can be made anywhere, including through PLN Mobile. Later the token price will be discounted by 50 percent so that customers simply pay half according to the desired token.

"For our prepaid customers, we will automatically adjust that the purchase of credit that was previously Rp. 100,000, for example for certain kWh, will only be Rp. 50,000, only half of it," explained Darmawan.

In order to get the latest PLN token discount, here is how to buy electricity pulses through the PLN Mobile application.

Make sure to have installed the PLN Mobile application on your cellphone. If not, the public can download it via the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

Please log in or register an account so you can log in to the application. Use an email and active mobile phone number to make registration easier.

After successfully logging in, go to the "Tokens and Bills" menu and select "Buy Electric Tokens".

Enter your meter number or customer ID. Customer ID can be seen in the electricity meter. Note and enter the number.

After that select the nominal electricity token you want to buy. There are several nominal tokens from the smallest nominal, namely IDR 20,000 to IDR 1,000,000.

Make payments through the desired platform, via bank transfer, e-wallet (OVO, GoPay, DANA), or other available methods.

Follow the instructions according to the desired method. If the payment is successful, an electricity token will appear in the form of 20 digits. This number must be inputted to an electrical meter.

Meanwhile, people who become postpaid electricity customers will be deducted automatically from the electricity bills used in January and February 2025. People can make payments as usual.

The electricity discount program of 50 percent in 2025 will not be given to all PLN customers. There are several criteria that need to be considered, namely as follows.

People who get a 50 percent electricity discount are those who use a power of 450 VA or 900 VA. While the power above is 1300 VA, the power of 2200 VA, up to 6600 VA will be subject to normal prices. Customers can confirm their status as subsidized electricity recipients.

Customers must have an active electricity account, both prepaid and postpaid at 450 VA and 900 VA. On the other hand, an inactive electricity account will not get this promo.
