Ayu Laksmi Announces A Break From The Film World

JAKARTA - Actress Ayu Laksmi revealed her plans to take a break from the world of cinema for a while. She revealed this intention after she underwent the gala premiere of her newest film, Perjanjian Gaib.

The actress with the full name I Gusti Ayu Laksmiyani decided to take a break to care for her mother. "For the time being, I am actually reducing my activities for filming and other activities because I have an obligation to look after my mother who is sick," said Ayu Laksmi in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Monday, March 6.

Because of these conditions, the 55-year-old actress had to turn down several offers that came her way. "So this (Perjanjian Gaib) is the last film to shoot, I cannot accept other films," she continued.

Ayu herself does not know for sure when she will be able to return to acting. Currently, she wants to focus on caring for her mother, who is considered a key figure so that she can move on and achieve various achievements in her career.

“Because for me, I can step forward and celebrate life until now because of my mother's prayers and blessings. So now is my time to celebrate life with my mother. Mother is 89 years old now, just pray that she will be healthy," she said.

For the time being, Ayu Laksmi will return to her hometown in North Bali. "Yes, in Bali. I live in Bali, but because my mother was sick, I moved to the village, in North Bali, three hours from Denpasar. If I have activities in Jakarta, I have to travel quite a lot," she concluded.

Ayu Laksmi was born into a Balinese family that is close to the arts. She began her artistic career as a singer, and released her first album entitled Istana yang Hilang in 1991.

In 2008, Ayu acted in her first feature film entitled Under the Tree. She has succeeded in attracting the attention of Indonesian film lovers through her role as Mawarni Suwono in the film Pengabdi Setan (2017).
