Living in Turkey, Cinta Penelope Reports Current Conditions After Experiencing a 7.8 SR Earthquake

JAKARTA - Cinta Penelope reported on Turkey's condition after an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale (SR) on Monday, February 6, 2023 yesterday. The 38-year-old artist is known to have lived in Istanbul, Turkey before the earthquake occurred.

Through her YouTube channel, Cinta several times explained the situation he saw in Turkey. In the last video, in the midst of snowfall in Istanbul, Cinta reports that there have been more than 3.000 fatalities due to the earthquake.

She explained that there were several fatalities from Indonesia, but the singer who became famous for the song "Keong Racun" could not confirm who and how many Indonesian citizens were victims of the earthquake.

Luckily for Cinta Penelope, she and one of her friends, Indah Sari, are in good condition. "Thank God we are safe and sound, because we are in Istanbul, while the epicenter was in Gaziantep," said Indah Sari, launching Penelope's Cinta YouTube channel on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.

Cinta explained that the distance between Istanbul and Gaziantep was far enough that she did not feel the impact of the devastating earthquake. "The distance between Istanbul and Gaziantep is about 15 hours by car or 2 hours by plane," said Cinta Penelope.

Cinta admits that she did not feel anything when the devastating earthquake occurred, but she was shocked when she learned about the news via television coverage.

Cinta also tried to straighten one thing out, she stated that Turkey's overall condition was still good, but it was the Gaziantep region that was damaged.

She asked for #prayforTurkey used by Indonesian people to be replaced with #prayforGaziantepTurki. "Please straighten it out for #prayforGaziantepTurkey, because traveling is usually to Kishmir, Istanbul, and Ankara, all of which are safe. But many are afraid to come here because they think Turkey is in ruins. It disturbs Turkish tourism. So, maybe the hashtag in our country can be changed to #prayforGaziantepTurki," she concluded.
