Surprise, Fedi Nuril Appears As Aswatama Villain In Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca Movie

JAKARTA - Actor Fedi Nuril appears as Aswatama in the film Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca. His appearance was a surprise because so far Hanung Bramantyo as a director has never mentioned his name.

"I was offered by Mr. Hanung to be Aswatama. I was surprised, curious, but also excited. That's why it's a Kurawa, right. He may be widely known as an antagonist. But because the concept is like Yin Yang, in black there is white, so this makes the audience think which one is actually the bad guy," he said when met at Epicentrum, South Jakarta, Monday, June 6.

Throughout the film, Fedi must appear wearing a wig weighing 7 kilograms. In addition, he must be chained and floated on a sling in a calm state.

"The difficulty for me is a literal struggle. Because I wear a wig that weighs up to 7 kg and in the story, it's made to float using a sling. If we just float around in silence, it's not really good. It hurts," said Fedi.

"It was quite heavy and had to adapt the Kromo inggil language (a very polite Javanese language) and gestures where I am not Javanese. It was challenging too," he added.

Accustomed to playing the protagonist role in his films, Fedi Nuril admitted that he was challenged to become an antagonist in Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca.

"If you say it's difficult maybe because I'm excited to get a role like that, it's just fun. Mr. Hanung's directions are followed because there are still few appearances. So the request is not too complex. The thing is, we can give a shocking impression that during this time you are the one who will be in the spotlight (Aswatama)," explained Fedi.

Hanung Bramantyo admitted that from the beginning he had thought of Fedi as Aswatama. "There is no (another candidate). Fedi Nuril must be Aswatama," said Hanung.

"The presence of Fedi Nuril, I want to make things that are not stereotypical. The crime is always shown with a grim face, there are all kinds of stains. I want bad people not to be stereotyped," he concluded.
