JAKARTA - Delivery of F-16 fighter jets makes Ukraine confident it will defeat Russia in the ongoing war, President Volodymyr Zelensky said during a speech to the crowd outside the Danish Parliament Building on Monday.
Denmark and the Netherlands announced on Sunday they would supply the F-16 to Ukraine, with the first six aircraft to be delivered around the turn of the year, after Washington approved the shipment last week, ahead of President Zelensky's visit to Copenhagen, Denmark.
"Today we believe that Russia will lose this war. But this is not the only main thing. The main thing is what we prove with our victory, with our cooperation, what you prove by supporting Ukraine. Together we prove that life is a value, that humanity is important, freedom is important, Europe is important. I believe it will be written in history as well because you, together with Ukraine, "said President Zelensky during a speech to crowds outside the Danish Parliament Building, as quoted from the Ukrainian Presidential website.
"I'm sure we will win because the truth is on our side. All our people are waiting for this moment. This will be a shared victory for the truth, democracy, and our nation. Thank you very much for your support! After the victory, we will come to you!" he continued.
On the occasion, President Zelensky also appreciated and thanked Denmark for the help Ukraine needed. Such as the armament assistance that has been provided, as well as the upcoming F-16 jet, to the aid as Ukraine had to survive the frozen winter, as Russia attacked vital power plants.
"Thank you very much! Thank you for your attitude to our people, to Ukraine! For all your families, all your homes, all your people, all your cities! Thank you very much, Denmark!" said President Zelensky.
Earlier, the Ukrainian military said the fighter jet was critical to the success of its counter-attack, which had been slow since its launch in early June, to prevent Russian fighter jets from attacking advanced troops.
"Superiority in the air is key to success on land," said air force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat as quoted by Ukrainian media.

As previously reported, Danish Defense Minister Jakob Ellemann-Jensen said on Monday Ukraine would only be allowed to use the F-16s donated by Denmark and the Netherlands on its own territory.
"We donated weapons on condition that they were used to expel enemies from Ukrainian territory. And nothing more than that," said Ellemann-Jensen Minister, as reported by The National News.
"That's the condition, whether it's tanks, fighter planes or something else," he said.
Denmark is said to be sending 19 jets in total. Meanwhile, the Netherlands has 42 F-16 aircraft as a whole, but has not yet decided whether everything will be donated.
