JAKARTA - Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Prasetyo, explained the reason why he asked for the budget allocation for working visits (kunkers) abroad for council members.

According to Prasetyo, the working visit of the DKI DPRD to other countries is more effective in terms of monitoring results because Jakarta is projected to be a business center after the transfer of the capital city to the archipelago, East Kalimantan.

"It's not just that we want to go abroad. No, yes. But, right after moving from JKT to IKN, what do you want Jakarta to do? That's what we have to think about," said Prasetyo at the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, Wednesday, August 16.

According to Prasetyo, the budget allocation for council members to other regions in Indonesia cannot get optimal results. Given, Jakarta's development has advanced compared to other regions.

"Jakarta already has a greater opportunity with sufficient regional financial capacity," said Prasetyo.

Moreover, according to him, so far the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has also often done work abroad to develop government programs.

The results of this work abroad, continued Prasetyo, showed more optimal results, such as the realization of MRT Jakarta phase 2 development to the use of electric vehicles.

"MRT phase 2 is one of them, then LRT. I used to go to America for a working visit to an electric car. There, the price of the battery was only 5 thousand US dollars, converted around Rp. 75 million. It's still below the price of the car, people will definitely buy it," explained Prasetyo.

"But if the price of the battery is more expensive than the price of the car, who wants to buy it? So, we can get how to socialize using an electric car," he added.

In a plenary meeting of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Budget Agency on Wednesday, August 9, Prasetyo proposed a budget for overseas work visits for council members. According to him, the DPRD cannot absorb the optimal program ideas from visits to other regions in Indonesia.
