Make Sure The Poor Get Free Legal Aid, Kemenkumham Monitor 17 Regencies/Cities In South Sumatra

SOUTH SUMATRA - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) supervises free legal aid in 17 districts and cities in South Sumatra (Sumsel).

The surveillance activity in the South Sumatra region was carried out by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights as the Regional Supervisory Committee Team (Panwasda).

Head of the Regional Office of the South Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Ilham Djaya, said that in the last week of July 2023, supervision was carried out in Ogan Komering Ulu (OKU) Regency.

Ilham explained that the supervision of legal aid aims to achieve the target or target of implementing legal assistance in accordance with Law Number 16 of 2011 concerning legal assistance.

According to him, the Panwasda Team in every supervision must ensure that legal aid providers must be orderly in administration and orderly procedures in providing legal assistance services to the poor.

Ilham said, through this supervision, it is hoped that programs prepared to help the poor in getting access to justice, especially for those who do not have the financial capacity to use lawyer services can run according to the provisions.

Meanwhile, the Head of Legal Affairs, Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of South Sumatra, Ave Maria Sihombing, added that to provide free legal assistance to the people of OKU Regency, his party cooperated with cooperation partners from the Baturaja Geradin Legal Aid Foundation.

"To ensure that the provision of legal assistance to the poor by cooperation partners is orderly, administrative and orderly procedures are carried out intensive supervision," he said.
