The authorities sealed a karaoke place in Jati Wetan Village, Jati District, Wednesday, July 26. The entertainment venue was desperate to operate in violation of Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 10/2015 which prohibited the existence of karaoke places. Head of Satpol PP Kudus Kholid said the sealing was carried out after the Satpol PP's efforts to raid the karaoke place always failed.

He explained that Satpol PP often finds the karaoke place closed in three raids.

During the raid, the entrance to the karaoke place was already locked. There is no activity and sound from within. Therefore, he said, the effort to take action had no basis.

However, Satpol PP found liquor bottles in the trash cans around the karaoke area.

The karaoke place standing in Jati Wetan Kusud Village has violated Perda 10/2015 which clearly prohibits the existence of karaoke entertainment venues in that location. The regulation has been in effect six years ago.

He explained that the regional regulation in Chapter II Article 2 states that private people or agencies are prohibited from conducting entertainment business activities for discotheques, nightclubs, pubs, and karaoke businesses in Kudus. The threat of violating the provisions of Article 2 is a maximum imprisonment of 3 months or a maximum fine of Rp. 50 million.

Kholid emphasized that business actors in Kudus must comply with Perda 10/2015. He emphasized that Satpol PP will take action against places where the type of business is prohibited from operating in Kudus.

According to him, the previous Satpol PP action related to the case of violating Perda 10/2015 had been carried out. Kholid said the karaoke place that was stubborn in operation was removed from its electricity connection and the karaoke equipment was confiscated.

In this sealing action, Satpol PP was assisted by TNI and Polri officers.
