Visit President Jokowi, National Secretariat Hopes to Be Involved in Decision Making

JAKARTA - Jokowi's National Secretary volunteer group visited the Jakarta State Palace to meet President Joko Widodo on Monday, September 12.

The general chairman of Jokowi's National Secretariat, Rambun Tjajo, said that his party made several proposals during a meeting with President Jokowi. One of them hopes to be involved in various decision-making processes.

"How do we continue to give ideas and sit down with the government, build a one-way mechanism through which the people can be involved in the decision-making process, including in long-term plans", Rambun told reporters after the meeting.

Rambun said that there are at least two most important aspects in the discussion of long-term plans, which should involve each other, namely those related to energy security and food security.

The reason, according to Rambun, these two aspects cover various other aspects.

"Earlier, Pak Jokowi was also very concerned, for example, we have reached the stage of heavy self-sufficiency, but what we don't see is how farmers benefit after post-harvest", he said.

Rambun considered this to be one of the big problems that had not been solved for a long time.

"This will be one of our focuses, how the added value can also be obtained. With technology,and  science, we can improve the income of producers, producers such as farmers and fishermen, so the added value is not only felt by the supply chain as well as multinational and private companies", he said.

Rambun said that one of the other important things that the President had conveyed at the meeting was related to the sustainability of the programs set by the current government.

Rambun said President Jokowi believes that if these programs continue, Indonesia will become a semi-advanced income country.

"So this is actually what we have to jointly oversee, not about the person, but the program. That we should not let the government change the leader for the program, so we only move in place", he said.
